Connecting The Dots

Below is a great speech from Steve Jobs (Apple Computer) when he spoke at the 2005 Stanford University graduation ceremony.

As the new year begins, what are your plans and heart's desires?
We cannot connect the dots looking forward, we can only connect them looking backwards. Yet by not looking and moving forward, we deny ourselves the opportunities to create the dots that will eventually connect to show us the story of our life.

How then can we move forward? Perhaps we can follow our hearts.
Have a great 2008 !

(The key points of the speech are below the video clip)

The three stories:

1. Connecting the Dots
You can't connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.

So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something, your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.

Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well worn path and that will make all the difference.

2. Love and Lost
Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith.

The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work and the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

If you haven't found it yet, keep looking and don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it.

3. Death
If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you will most certainly be right.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I have ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.

Because almost everything, all external expectations, or pride, or fear of embarrassment or failure, these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.

Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking that you have got something to lose. You are already naked, there is no reason not to follow your heart.

Your time is limited so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma which is living with the results of other people's thinking.

Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice and most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Stay hungry, stay foolish.

Thankful

As the year 2007 comes to a close, I would like to share a song with my friends. As we look back over the year, what are the things that we remember? Oftentimes, it is so easy to remember the setbacks we had and dwell on the disappointments and hurts.

About a month ago, I found a song on YouTube whose lyrics got my attention. It is a song from the latest Noel CD of Josh Groban. The song reminds us that we can be thankful for all the good things we have received in our life. Indeed, "there's so much to be thankful for". Hope you enjoy the video clip.

"It's up to us to be the change"
(In the power to change oneself, is the same power to change the world)

"Even with our differences, there is a place we're all connected"
(Everything is connected) ;-)

"Thankful"

Somedays we forget
To look around us
Somedays we can't see
The joy that surrounds us
So caught up inside ourselves
We take when we should give.

So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be.
And on this day we hope for
What we still can't see.
It's up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There's so much to be thankful for.

Look beyond ourselves
There's so much sorrow
It's way too late to say
I'll cry tomorrow
Each of us must find our truth
It's so long overdue

So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And every day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There's so much to be thankful for.

Even with our differences
There is a place we're all connected
Each of us can find each other's light

So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And on this day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though this world needs so much more

There's so much to be thankful for

What The Bleep Do We Know ?

Below two clips concern the video “What The Bleep Do We Know ?” I watched the video last night and it was mind-boggling stuff. It introduces Quantum Physics and how this model of science is turning upside down our understanding of this world and our perceived reality.

“We have been conditioned to believe that the external world is more real than the internal world. This new model of science is just the opposite. It says what is happening within us will create what is happening outside of us .....
What is reality ? ..... Quantum Physics is so clear about that ..... Instead of things, we have to think in terms of possibilities.”

One of the scenes that struck me featured the groundbreaking work of Japanese researcher Dr Masaru Emoto on water crystals. Dr Emoto discovered that thoughts/words (intentions) bring out different crystal shapes in frozen water molecules. I will leave you to enjoy the two video clips and ponder about this message from water which is telling us to look within ourselves. So who creates our reality and our experiences in life? Can we blame anyone or anything for our unpleasant experiences ?

“Makes you wonder doesn’t it ..... If thoughts can do that to water, imagine what our thoughts can do to us.”

Faith of the Heart

As 2006 draws to a close, I would like to share this song with you, "Faith of the Heart". It is also the theme song of Star Trek Enterprise. I am a fan of Star Trek and enjoy its plots of exploration and humanity. Well, I may be wrong but I think deep inside each one of us, we are searching, seeking, .... to find meaning and fulfillment, to live our life and enjoy our journey here.

The mission of Star Trek: To boldly go where no man has gone before.

I wish you a good start in 2007 and where your heart leads you, may you find the faith to believe that you can do anything. Enjoy the video:

Lyrics - Faith of the Heart

It's been a long road
Getting from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near

And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothing's in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No, they're not gonna hold me down

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
Now I finally have my day
I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No, they're not gonna change my mind

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

I've known a wind so cold and seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel are only winds of change
I've been through the fire and I've been through the rain
But I'll be fine

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

Faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith of the soul
That no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

It's been a long road

Yeha Noha, Wishes of Happiness and Prosperity

Yeha Noha. Wishes of happiness and prosperity.

I got to know about a song of this name in the album Sacred Spirit, Sacred Chants And Dances Of The Native Americans. The lyrics of this song is a chant in the Navajo language. It is a healing song and in the past was sung to cleanse and heal the warriors. Today, it is sung to family and loved ones and to simply wish them happiness and prosperity.

I don't know what the meaning of the lyrics are but I like the music and the beauty and peace that it exudes. Hope you enjoy and share it with your friends too. May it heal you and bring happiness and prosperity into your life.

When Good Things Start

When Good Things Start, abundance, wealth, white fang, whitefangpuppyOpen all hailing frequencies ..... Hellooooooo !!!!

I am new to blogging and finding my way around here. It is my first day and it seems kind of interesting. I have named my blog "When Good Things Start". I would like to share the good things I have experienced in my life in these recent years and to let you know that you too can find and experience these good things in your life!

It must be your lucky day as you have found my blogpage!! Let me share with you this discovery that has brought me very good results and has made one of my dreams a reality. I have only learnt it these few years (better late than never) and I am still constantly consciously applying it. It is a discovery that has brought the good things into my life: Our thoughts create our reality!

If we wish to have the good things in our life, then we should focus on the things we want and NOT on the things we do not want. How often do we think about the good things we want in our life? More often, our thoughts throughout the day have been on stressful situations and negative emotions at work and at home. It is little wonder that many of us don't seem to move ahead and the stressful situations and negative emotions continue to engulf us. It comes down to this : What we focus on expands! When was the last time we had time-out to reflect and contemplate on our future and how we want our future to turn out?

On the internet, people seek out all types of information and purchase all types of things. I hope even then we are seeking out the good things that move us towards a better future.

The information I found is on the following website. It is worth your time and effort to check this out. It has worked for me and will do the same for you too. Think Rich and you will be Rich.
